 Jose Ariel Lanada

Jose Ariel Lanada is both a dreamer and an achiever. He was born on the dawn of March 1, 1972 in the small town of Duenas, Iloilo City, Philippines.

He believes that education is better than gold, so after finishing his secondary education as class valedictorian, he proved his mettle in the field of nursing and graduated as government scholar from Central Philippine University in 1993.

For him, success is better than a piece of paper. After passing the national licencing examination for nurses, he tested his talents and wisdom when he joined the nursing staff of the Intensive and Coronary Care Unit of Iloilo Mission Hospital in Iloilo City, Philippines in 1994 and became a nurse supervisor and staff development co-ordinator in 1998.

Being a dedicated and hard-working nurse, he was granted a study placement at the Philippine Center for Diabetes Education Foundation, Inc. at Makati Medical Center in 1997 and became the Head of the Diabetes Education Clinic of Iloilo Mission Hospital.

Tested and proven to be true, he was appointed as Officer-in-Charge of the Nursing Service Office of Iloilo Mission Hospital in 2002 after taking his units in Master of Arts in Nursing at Central Philippine University.

In his quest for professional and technical advancement, he travelled to the United Kingdom in October, 2002 and since then has worked at the Adult Intensive Care Unit of the John Radcliffe NHS Hospital, Oxford city, where he is now a Senior Charge Nurse.

Realising the vast differences in the clinical procedures and the scope of nursing in the United Kingdom, Ariel rose to the challenge to take up the Adult Intensive Care Practice course at Oxford Brookes University in 2005.

As evidence of his kindness and successful interpersonal skills, he was appointed Chairman of the Filipino Community of Oxfordshire in 2004, remaining so to the present, and became an instrument in promoting camaraderie, unity and family fun among the Filipino people of Oxfordshire.
