FilCom Oxford Receives Generation Donation from Our Lady's School, Cowley

On 26 February 2007 officers of FilCom Oxford were honoured to be welcomed to Our Lady's Primary School in Cowley. The purpose of of the visit was to receive a cheque donation for £200 from the children and staff of the school. The donation is to be used to help Filipino children who have been the victims of natural disasters.

FilCom Oxford Chairman, Jose Ariel Lanada, received the cheque on behalf of the Community and the children of the Philippines and made a brief speech of thanks, which included the children's first introduction to the Filipino language Tagalog! The Chairman said: "we were deeply touched by the generosity of the children and staff offering love and help to children far away across the other side of the world".

FilCom Oxford will be asking Sister Clare Joseph, now back in the Philippines, to suggest three candidate good causes and the officers will select the one they think most appropriate to receive the donation. The Community will be keeping the school informed about where the donation will be finally used.
