Nepalese and Filipino teams before their exhibition game

The Opening Ceremony was held on Sunday 4 August 2013. Honoured guests included the Deputy Lord Mayor of Oxford, Cllr Tony Brett; representing Thames Valley Police, Alex Austin and Mark Jones; and Gloria Diaz, President of Batangas Filipino Association - UK.

Our Master of Ceremonies was Maria Ellis of Pinoy Radio - UK.  The Invocation was given by Pastor Raymond Valerio of the Jesus Enthroned Church.  The Philippine National Flag was raised by Cllr Brett and Maria Ellis and the Union Jack by Alex Austin and Mark Jones.  The Pledge of Sportsmanship was administered by Mark Jones.
Entertainment was provided by Careniosa and Marilag Dance Groups and Danelle-Nichole and Darah So.

We were very delighted to welcome members of the Nepalese Community Oxfordshire who joined us for an exhibition game to kick-off the basketball tournament. Our guests won the match!
