A NEW CHURCH FOR A POOR BARANGAY FilCom Oxford Chairman, Ariel Lanada, is spearheading the fundraising for the construction of a church in his home barangay back in the Philippines. Barangay Lu-ag, Dueñas, Iloilo Province is a poor barangay whose people rely on subsistence farming and casual labouring for their small income. Ariel writes: 'It has
long been my dream to help the faithful people of Lu-ag build a place
for their worship. A church that will nourish their faith,
provide a focus for the development of the young and be a center for
family and parish activity.'
Construction started in April 2010 and has gone well. Steel roof trusses are being installed and the next stage will be to tile the roof. Unfortunately, the building works are very expensive and the project is in great need of additional funds in order to get the roof finished. Are you be able to help?
